In the dynamic landscape of GenAI and widespread excitement on using LLMs, data privacy and protection started to take on a much larger focus in 2023. As we set our sights on 2024, Protopia AI remains committed to shaping the future of AI data privacy and protection.
2023 Review: A Year of Milestones
Regulatory Changes on Securing AI
The year witnessed leapfrogging advancements in regulatory frameworks governing AI. The EU drafted the AI act, President Biden signed the Executive order on Safe, Secure and Trustworthy AI, and the G7 held a roundtable on Data Protection and Privacy. All these policies call for safe, private and protected handling of data while running AI systems.
Data Breaches led to Gatekeeping on AI
The advancements in foundational models and easy access to LLMs led to sensitive enterprise data being leaked as observed on several instances such as with Samsung’s code leak and Microsoft’s 38 TB data exposure on Github. Such situations led to the widespread clampdown on LLM usage in the enterprise.
Strong customer excitement on unlocking privacy enabled Enterprise LLMs
The Protopia AI team discussed data protection and privacy for LLMs through the year with customers and partners, and did over a thousand live demos across AWS Gen AI Accelerator, Ai4, AWS re:Invent, and NeurIPS.
Analyst Reports
The year 2023 saw the AI Trust, Risk and Security Management framework garner high interest across buyers and user communities. Gartner published the AI TRiSM Innovation Guide where a survey of IT executives indicated Data Privacy as their biggest concern and risk in adopting Gen AI. Protopia AI was identified as one amongst a handful of vendors addressing this challenge. We earned recognition with five mentions in Gartner’s market research notes and hype cycle publications.
